This special 3 hour workshop - facilitated by Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator and Prenatal Yoga Teacher Dewi Chen - is for all expectant parents who are looking to enrich their experience of labouring and birth. The workshop will cover basic fundamentals of birth physiology, and the practical tools and exercises to make birth physically, mentally and emotionally more easeful for birthing persons and their partners. These tools look into maternal positioning, foetal positioning, comfort measures, as well as breathwork, meditation and visualisation techniques. Some of the questions we will explore together through theory and practice are:
- What happens during labour?
- How can we prepare the birthing body for labour and birth?
- What maternal positions will enable labour to progress?
- What are comfort measures and how do they help?
We will end the segment with partner yoga exercises to build trust, strength, connection, and affection - qualities that will be helpful to invite into the birthing suites and beyond!
